Acting classes aren’t just for actors. They can benefit anyone who must speak in public, have self-esteem and poise, and feel comfortable in their own body. Our acting classes prepare actors for a career in the industry or to pursue acting as a hobby. Either way, acting classes teach confidence, how to think on your feet, and the flexibility to be ready for anything that may arise during a speech or presentation. They are also just fun, social and exciting.
The skills built in our classes help in many aspects of daily life and work. Having the ability to speak confidently, and exude poise and relaxation in any context is sure to open doors throughout life.
The classes generally have 10 - 12 participants, we cap them at 12. We will not run a class with less than 5.
It's important that each class is a truly safe space. We respect that everyone has different comfort levels and degrees of active participation may vary, especially during the first class when some people may feel shy. For the space to feel safe for everyone to be vulnerable and take risks, we all have to trust that everyone in the room is participating. So, in short, sign up with the intention to participate - and know that everyone is here to support each other within our different levels of comfort.
Are you going to take an acting class or two and then end up on the stage of the NAC? Not very likely, but you have to start somewhere! What are your goals? Many people, after taking acting classes, get involved in community theatre as a hobby, and some pursue acting as a profession. Many just enjoy taking a class once a week, meet people and do something creative and exciting. We are here to guide and help you in any way we can.
